Lifestyle Matters is delivered through a combination of group sessions, individual sessions and visits or outings, giving participants the opportunity to put their ideas into practice. The contents of the programme were developed in full consultation with older people and the ideas and activities have been validated by the experiences of Lifestyle Matters groups.
This element of the electronic resource contains outlines of these sessions. These have been grouped under themes, offering participants a menu of choices to enable the programme to be customised to meet the needs of each group. To access the materials click on the theme you are interested in and you will see a brief description of the broad topics contained within this. These can be accessed by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page which will take you to downloadable session outlines with examples of introductory activities, discussion topics and ideas for activities relating to the topic.
The organisation of the themes is arbitrary; there is no set pattern of delivery and it is not necessary to cover all themes. However the sessions contained in the section entitled the ‘Activity and health’ are considered as core to the programme and should form the starting point for all groups.
There may be activities that are not included that you may wish to use and develop. All the activities are intended as starting points; they should then be tailored to meet the needs of the participants, as opposed to the activities dictating the group.
